I know this subject has been beat with a stick many of times ,so please go easy on me guys. Seems like every time its brought up you'll get five million different answers cause everyone has their own brand. my question is , im looking for a food safe oil to use on the blades and pivots and was wondering if mineral oil was the end all? or if their was something a notch above mineral oil that is food safe.
thanks for any input you guys can throw my way

Of the recommendations commonly given, I think there are only two I have seen that are totally food safe (not that I'm an expert in this area, so anyone feel free to correct me if they believe I am wrong): mineral oil and the paraffin oil mix sold by Carter Cutlery. Every other oil I've read the sheet for indicate you should wash the blade before using it for food.

Do you have any concerns about using Mineral Oil? I use it and have no issues with it.

Baby Oil is mineral oil, but since it has a fragrance added, it wouldn't consider it food safe. However, considering it's for babies, I wouldn't worry too much about having traces of it on my blade when I used it to cut food that I would eat.

I was reading a bit about WD40 as an option, I've gotten mixed reviews, but what I've seen here is it's not too bad. Thoughts?
