Hello all,

I am going to be in San Francisco, CA for a convention this week, and I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a decent knife store in the downtown area, especially within walking distance of Union Square and it's surrounds.

Also, any other touristy info that you might like to pass along would be greatly appreciated, even if it doesn't have anything to do with knives (gasp!).

I think a post such as this might more properly belong to the Community forum, but more people post here. I hope no one minds....

thanks for the help,
Phil Reedy

Decent knife store in the Union Square area of SF? Short answer = NO. Same answer pretty much hold's true for the entire SF Bay Area.

Hi Phillip!

There are 3 main knife stores in the SF Bay Area:

1)"We Be Knives" on Pier 39 in San Francisco

2)"Edge of the World" in Oakland's Jack London Square

3)"Castello's Guns & Sporting Goods" in the Willow Glen District of San Jose.

WBK is relatively close and worthwhile if you're going to Pier 39 anyway.

All except Castello's sell product at full retail (they have VERY high rent).

The best knife deals are here on Blade Forums.

Stay sharp!

Jim

I visited SF last September, and took a trip to We Be Knives. Well worth the time. The prices were sky high, but the selection of customs alone was worth the trip.

I just want to ad Columbus Cutlery in North Beach (Columbus at Green or Vallejo, i forget which block)...Although they deal mostly with Kitchen stuff, they usually have a good selection of rare and hard to find stuff, probably because no one except old timers know the little shop is there. On Market St. there's Kaplan's Sporting Goods which carries some Spydercos and Gerbers.

We Be Knives on Pier 39 is a cool, but expensive, little place...
