I have seen a few pictures of a pack that the 5/6 sit behind. It has a fastex clip on the front. I have seen the small pack kits with the zipper but they don't show how the knife attaches on the outside.

Can anyone post some pictures of how the knife attaches to it?

If you are talking about the two pack kits that are coming soon, to attach a knife on the outside you would need the MOLLE backing sheath attachment and then you could attach it that way. I have one for my 3 and have that on a SpecOps pack at the moment.

I guess I am a little behind on the power curve as to the products and availability since I am a new guy here. What is the latest release date on these since this is the fall? Is there a waiting list?

I wonder how this setup would ride near the leg, it might need a leg strap of some sort? I have never done well with stuff strapped to my leg, I constantly feel it and that distracts me.

It's still "Fall" until the middle of December my newfound friend. :D

They should be available soon enough.

If we are still talking about the same thing, the larger pack has a shoulder strap, it's not like an SAS rig for the thigh or anything.

Here is an older thread with better pictures of it although I don't know if that was the final version of the packs or not, Jeff can chime in with that.

Not trying to high jack this thread.
Don, what SpecOps pack do you have your 3 attached to and can you post a pic of it?
I have been looking for a small pouch/bag to use with my 3. I'm trying to wait for the ESEE packs but it's getting tough. lol

Rest easy. Even flow. :D

I can't post pics on this forum and ImageCrack is cocked up lately. So, I just took a quick pic and tossed it up on my blog.

All good things to those who wait...

Or were you talking about the old "RAT Pack Kit" like this?

I was thinking of the old rat pack. I don't like my knives riding as low as the molle attachment make it ride. Where do you get the old rat pack and how does it attach to the knife and belt? From the picture you posted it doesn't show the molle sheath attachment so how does the system attach?

Checked my bank account today. The knives I ordered still show "pending" meaning they still haven't shipped. So much for paying expedited shipping charges and getting them before the weekend. It sucks having to order everything on the internet, always pay express rates and still have to wait for "processing"-whatever that means now in the digital age.

I have enough pouches sitting around the house I can probably make some setup similar to the old rat pack but sometimes it is worth just using the pack made for a particular application.

Is this what you mean ? It's the 5/6 pouch attached to a HEST with paracord on the bottom and screws on the top.

The picture adaman04 posted is what I was looking for but I cant see how the knife attaches to the belt nor how the pouch attaches to the knife. And of course where to purchase one.

Now I get it, the mystery is the knife goes inside the case and the pack connects to the belt. Doesnt that mean the zippers are always partly open? Walking through thick alders it may snag and open?

On the old version, the top was open exposing the sheath with only zippers on 3 sides.

The new version with the 2 pouches I have the same concerns you do. A pouch that is supposed to be zipped all the way up being unzipped on one side to let the knife stick out would come open if you pulled on it I would think. All gear has it's own application, but for right now the new pack design isn't doing much for me. It's organization for gear, but other than that it looks like a purse you can put a knife in more than a sheath system like the original pack was. I'm sure it will be a very nice piece of gear, just not quite what I'm looking for.

The New version soon to be released will blow away the old Gen 1 pack...

That's what we are waiting on. I was scribbling this morning at work on a notepad what I think is going to go into those two pouches. I think the first run is going to be depleted rather quickly. :D

the knife attaches to the belt same as it does without the altoid tin pouch. either 550 cord, MOLLE clips, or a large Tek-Lok.

the small pouches are available on the ESEE website.

and the "factory seconds" are here-

while the website says they fit the 5 & 6, they also fit the 3, 4 & HEST with a little work.
