I used to include a handwritten lifetime warranty in boxes I sent knives out in. Then I put more work into my website and have a page called "customer satisfaction guarantee." It lays out my warranty and policy on sharpening, shipping, etc.
When posting a knife for sale, my for sale thread includes my warranty text at the bottom below the pics. I have a knife sale template I use for this; I do a write-up with pics on the current knife, then cut and paste the warranty and shipping, sheath stuff into it.
When corresponding with a customer for a custom order, I make sure they have the link to my warranty page.
Whenever I send out a knife, I throw a business card into the box. I know they already have my web address, but may need it for reference or a card to give their friend who is interested in ordering.
I always thought it would be a good idea to have a standard printout to include when shipping. Not sure why I don't yet.
Here's what's at my site and in my sale threads:
Customer Satisfaction Guarantee
I make knives to the best of my ability and knowledge. I research to find the best materials and methods to use, in order to provide the very best product, in terms of value, durability, performance, and aesthetics. Should you find a knife you have bought from me to be lacking in any of these respects, you may ship it back to me at my expense for a full money-back return.
Should a knife purchased from me fail in materials or workmanship, please ship it back to me at my own expense for your money back in full, or repairs at no cost. Your choice.
I will sharpen any of my knives at no cost, however I do ask that you pay for shipping costs for this service.
I am always pleased to hear from any of my customers, past, repeat, potential, or otherwise. Please see "Contact Me" and give me a call. If you have any questions regarding these policies, I'd like to hear them.
