Knife penetration

With a thread like this I am really hoping the Custom Shop has some Skeleton Key blanks! Even I need one now to start testing it out. I think we had a Skeleton Key grab bag at blade this year if I remember right. I'm hoping all the blanks didn't get used up then.

Those Keys from Blade are 1/2 as thick as the old ones, It would be quite the testament to the toughness of INFI if one of those things went through quarters .....................Hmmm..............Thanks for the inspiration Lexi :)

LOL! Sure, hey...I mean it was nothin'.

I knew that thing was thicker than the Keys that I am used to seeing. I would love to get one of the older fatties. I have a hankering for busting up some change myself.

Pointy will do better than tanto for soft armor. HG55, PBF, Urban Grudge, DSF are all more than enough. The tail end of a Rattlehawk or Sniper Hawk would be most ideal.

Diamond shaped double edged dagger profiles are the best for penetration. Of the few I've seen I agree the original AA, AALB, HG55, DSF, F1, and Urban Grunge would top my list.

I'm impressed with the penetration ability of the AMSMO. However, it is only a 3.5" blade, according to some sources you need at least 6". The Tali Whacker looks like it could get the job done.

3.5 is ok, unless you are aiming to the Heart..., I think that the AMSMO will do better then the Tali Wacker - the AMSMO is thicker, which give him advantage.

Why would thicker be better for penetrating body armor?

Brought out my caliper:)

AMSMO = 0.17

Tali Whacker LE = 0.17

Tali Whacker CG = 0.18

Nuclear Boss Jack LE = 0.17

When hitting a body armor with high tensile strength (with human power not guns ect.) the edge of the knife need to be at the "right" shape and angle and it needs support and strong structure (spine), the combination of edge shape (spear point\tanto) and blade thickness will gives the blade its strong support.

lets take for example the The "Tali Wacker": this knife might slide on the body armor, the long thin blade might break\bend so is the edge; and take the nuclear Boss Jack LE - a combination of straightback blade with spear point (the angle for penetration is better the the "Tali Wacker" and less chance that the blade will bend (shorter).

As I wrote before - my opinion combination of tanto and drop\spear point with thick blade.

the "Tali" seem thinner.

Probably I did not explain myself well, I meant to thickness ratio along the blade (longer blade need to be thicker if one want a strong blade spine).

When were those released? Must have been before I found Busse, cause I would have grabbed those!
What does PBF stand for?

I believe it stands for Purebred Fighter....and I agree, pretty sweet blades. Unique handle/wrap as well!
