knife pins question

I have a question about the pins on these kind of knives.
How do these kind of knives stay thight and do not have any blade play since the pins are not peened?

Such pins are actually peened in place before the handle slabs are finished, giving the appearance that you see.

That is right, on larger fixed blade knives, there are also sch things as corby bolts (actual threaded bolts). They give the same appearance but with a larger diameter.
