I am not aware of a web site that does discibe all the points that are availabel, but
I can try to give you some information in reference to a few pictures of my web site.
I'm sure that there are more, but these are
the one's I'm familiar with.
web site:http://www.imt.net/~goshawk
Listing:
Clip pt. An example is the 2nd picture on
my site. designed for piercing.
Trailing pt. very Similar to clip pt. except
the tip curves back up slightly in a simitar
effect. disegned for piercing and facilate
better skinning ablility.
Drop pt. An example would be the 3rd picture
on my site. designed for more utility and
skinning.
Spear pt. An example would be the 4th picture
on my site. Again designed for piercing
Dagger pt. very similar to spear pt. but more
pointed and simetrical(sp?)and sharpened on
both edges.
Hawkbill pt. The point has a downward curve
similar to a Hawk's mandible or beak hence
the name. design is for catching and cutting
Warncliff pt. An example of this would be
if you turned the 1st knife picture on my
site up side down and the straight part was
the cutting edge and the curved part was the
top. design is for piercing and cutting
Chisel pt. It is similar to a wood chisel in
that one side of the blade is usually flat
and the cutting edge on the end angles sharply toward the point at an angle. the
opposite side of the flat is ground to an
edge similar to a chisel on the cutting edge
and angled point. Designed for piercing
Simitar pt. The blade has desided curve and
the top edge on the end angles sharply towards the point. Design very heavy pt.
designed to sever limbs and head!
Skinner pt. There is a picture of one of my
skinners on page 86 of Knives 2000 It is a
replica of an old green river buffalo skinner
with stag handle. very rounded tip designed for just skinning. no sharp point to poke holes. Mike Turber is the present owner of this knife.
I hope this is of some help
