On the 20th of this month I missed an auction for a knife I really wanted.
The auction ended with no bids.
I couldn't stop thinking about the knife so a couple of days later I emailed the seller - also the maker in this case - and asked him if I could purchase it for his reserve. I was very pleased and appreciative when he agreed to do so.
I received a knife on the 25th - three days later.
Imagine my surprise and dissapointment when it wasn't the knife pictured in the auction.
I emailed the maker immediately, indicating this was not the knife I had expected to receive. I also took some time to detail what specifically I liked about the knife in the auction. Then I asked if it would be OK to return this one.
I have not yet heard back from him.
It has only been 3 days and it is Easter but the delay in receiving a response from him has made me wonder if there is any reason to expect I shouldn't be able to return this knife to him.
