I was looking through an old catalog and I found this page. There has been some discussion before but I had thought it was all in jest. They do exist.

Thank you for the photos, s-k. The knife purses certainly served their purpose--the knives look well preserved.

Cork balls have their charme as well
I had never seen one, but I never doubted that such things were used even a long time ago. I guess they were not that common though.
S-K, thanks for sharing your picture (and thanks to Jake for the catalog page).

Fausto, what's a cork ball?

I can't read the caption on Jake's add on my phone.

Eta, thanks for the email Fasuto! Don't I feel silly :)

Interesting find, Jake. I'm not surprised to see that they have been around for a long time. Just didn't know they were actually called purses.

Oh, my.

I like the simple knife slips I've seen from KSF and GEC, etc., but the actual purse-like clasps on the above "purses" make me jiggy (not in a good way).

Just make sure you have your waiver form when using your knife purse.:D

Nice photos, Charles. Some of my vintage plier knives and wrench knives came with a "slip case" "knife purse" similar to the one on the left, 2nd from the bottom.

I didn't give it much thought at the time but I vaguely remember that my vintage pearl Victorinox gentlemen's knife came with a velvet(?) "knife purse" with a clasp. I'm not sure what I did with it but I've probably got it around here somewhere.

Thanks Jake. I had accumulated so many of them and had them stashed in cans and drawers, so late last year I grouped them in to 3 batches and listed them on the Bay. They went for some good money. I was very pleasantly surprised with the funds raised for buying more knives. Charles

I use KSF pocket slips for my best folders, buy a new one for each knife so it forms to the knife over time.

I have one knife of this type:

Beyond that, well, I think they're called POCKET knives for a reason. :)
