Knife question

If you want to save some money, then get the BK2. While if you want a better edge holding knife (though by a bit) , get the RC5.
Both are great knives.

If you are wanting to buy a knife to hack down trees, I don't think a 5.5" blade is gonna do much. Why not pick up an Ontario RAT RTAK II for that purpose (10" blade ~ $115)

and the Kabar for a smaller camp knife. One knife does not suit all purposes. When I camp I carry a 7" Kabar (which still seems to small to me to really accomplish any batoning and chopping) and a RAT Izula for smaller chores.

i think im either gona get the RC6 or the RC5. between those 2 now :)
Thanks to all for your valued input. I wish you all luck with your future knife purchases.

I was going to say my preference is for the full flat grind of the BK-2, but I don't like the grip.
Since you threw the RC6 into the mix, I'd suggest the RAT Pack previously suggested with the RC6 included -- which is a package I'm seriously looking at myself.

I doubt you'll go wrong with either one, I haven't owned any Rat Cutlerys yet but I hear they're great, and I don't have the BK-2 but I do have the BK-7 and it is a great knife, I'm sure either one is a good choice.

I own both knives. The blade profile and thickness is very similar. When the both knives are dry I prefer the handle of the BK2 when they are wet I prefer the RAT RC-5. For the money I would recommend the BK2. If money is not a factor I would choose the RAT, but only because of the Micarta scales. Both are awesome and among my favorite knives to take hiking. I usually take the RAT backpacking and leave the BK2 in my truck for vehicle emergencies. I another great knife is the Fallkniven A-1, but I usually leave it at home because it is more difficult to sharpen due to its convex grind.

Out of the two choices listed, I would get the RC-5 without a doubt. Their customer service and warranty are unbeatable, and they are truly great hard-use knives, from what I hear.

edited: It helps to read page 2 before you post. Out of the RC-5 and RC-6, I would get the RC-6. But either of those knives will make an awesome user.
