buy two knives, give him the not engraved one 1st, wait a week or so and if he doesn't lose it give him the engraved one ,take the other back and say you're now knife brothers or collectors with the same model-whatever works best. if he loses it ,give him the nice one at your discretion-when he's 11 or if he feels bad enough about losing the first, etc. have a little fun with it. maybe you could bet a six-pack of some beverage over it or something with his parents, i mean. good uncle by the way.
