knife recommendations for abusive use

I would have also recommended a Rat Cutlery RC-6, but it goes against the under $100 price the OP wants.

I am looking to get a good knife, maybe for under 100, for use during camping or every day stuff. (shopping wood if I have to, cutting rope, and other camp related cutting)

There's a fairly big difference between a knife for camping (being able to meet the tasks you mentioned) and one for everyday stuff.

I want to be able to beat the knife with a wooden baton to cut wood if I have to without fear of the blade breaking and I want the knife to be simple.

I think this statement limits you to fixed blades. I wouldn't suggest trying to baton wood with a folder.

Im not sure if I should get a custom knife or a production line knife, help me choose a good one, ive heard good things bout fallknivens and bkrt.

Why not think about a folder for everyday tasks, and a good fixed blade/chopper for your camping duties? Smart shopping, and you can do both for about $ 100.

I have several knives my father in law has made or has helped me make but they all are somewhat of show knives so I wouldn't like to use them.

I think it's neat your FIL has made knives and has helped you make a few. I don't blame you for not wanting to use them.

Hi guys,
I agree with those that suggest the CS Trail Master or Recon Scout. Also with the Ka Bars Heavy Bowies (9" and 7").
I disagree with those that suggest small knives like the Moras or short knives like FK H-1.
If what you want to do is chopping and batoning, and you are willing to spend around $100 or a little bit more... less than a BarkRiver anyway, you need a bigger knife (6"at least). I highly recommend Scrap Yard SOD (7"+) or Scrapper 6 (6"). The Scrapper 6 won with flying colors a destruction test.

Ka Bar Beckers (BK-9 and BK-7), and Ontarios (SP-10 and SP-5) are great too.

Also, Ontario just came up with a new line of knives, the GEN II SP43 8" and SP42 7" made with 5160 steel. I have a SP43... light and sturdy knife.

Good luck
