Now that Christmas is over and the new year has started is there anything you have decided to change? Is your collection too big? You edc the same knife for a year? Is it time to change things up?

For me- I have had a lot of great knives pass through my hands. I also missed out on a lot of those great knives because I didn’t use or carry them. Not anymore!! I am going to (try) and slow down. Take the time to enjoy them before trading for something new. I am starting with the ZT0850 I just bought. It was hard for me to put it in my pocket (brand new in box) but I did it!!
It is going to be rough but I have you guys for a support group......right?
Anyone else changing things up?

My goal is to stop mirror polishing my knife edges. Seems that a 600 grit deburred on leather with a little compound is about all you need. 220 grit for the kitchen!

After a couple of disappointments from knives I could not wait to get, then having them not be all I had hoped, I have decided to buy less and use more. Most likely I will sell or gift the knives that are now just taking up space and are not in any regular carry rotation, and concentrate on getting the most use and enjoyment out of the knives I own that I will actually carry.

I need to start selling stuff I am likely never to use and don't care about any more. It is just not my style, but I need to do it.

New Year's resolution with knives: SLOW DOWN on purchases. I know I won't stop, but I surely can slow down more than I have in the last couple of years.

My New Years resolution is to post more in chat, I finally made an account. I’ve been lingering for a few years now. Also would like to trade away some flippers that I don’t use for stuff I will enjoy. First things first though, I need to become a paid member.

That’s my knife years resolution.

Start consolidating my accumulation. I've narrowed down what I wish to keep, gifted a few to friends, and found someone who'll take most of my admittedly plain Jane SAK collection. Even trashed several low value folders that were well beyond repair. 2019 is going to be a year of house cleaning.

This year I plan to spend less time on this web site. I can only get new knives be selling something I already have. I would like to get better at sharpening as well.

To stay in my comfort zone of high end production where I'm personally content...i started 2018 buying a katsu knife on amazon...reignited l my love for knives I've had since I was little...many purchases later my year ended with my first SA custom that I just had to have after dabbling in every price bracket leading up to that. It's a great knife but had some issues I've never had with reate or crk. ..they're resolved however it was a let down after months of staring and drooling at the maker's work...he didn't respond to my email regarding the issue either and I tried twice. Guys probably super busy --who knows. The more it costs the more I'll pick it apart... Just bought a boos blades smoke for 220 that will probably be flawless given that doesn't have the "soul" of a custom knife...

I should buy less knives & use the ones that I already have more, but.......

I resolve to only buy new knives by funding them with sale proceeds from from my way-too-big knife collection.

If anything, I think I'll try my hardest to carry my fixed blades more. I have beautiful new Bradfords and Winklers and I need to carry them, and put down the folders.
