Rubber Ducky: I've seen the quote and have a t-shirt with it's saying along with a sniper shown prone with a long gun.
Never wear it for obvious reasons, it was a gift.
Rubber Ducky: Callling it pretty good.
The attempt of another to draw your weapon brings the level of force to the highest degree. That may be a PO's duty gun, a civilians carried firearm, your knife clipped to the pocket.
Barring any weapons play before that, when the perp attempts to "disarm" you of your property, and that property happens to be considered a dangerous weapon by statute [ like knives and knife restrictions fall under ], or the gun on your hip, the perp is presumed attempting to murder you if he can take control of the deadly weapon.
It's then a fight to the end or until he stops due to what you are doing to him either by mental submission or physical ailments which prevent him from continuing to be a threat.
Times such as these will be life altering. You could get caught with your pants down, literally, and have one grab the knife from behind you in a crowd. No back pocket carry for me consequently, been that way for years [ saves on the car seats as well ].
With the knives in the front pockets, you can protect them from sight easily enough and at the same time be physically securing them with the inside wrist of the hands just touching the clips. Or maybe you hook the thumb in the rear corner and palm the clip from view naturally.
If a [ one ] person is in your inner circle and confrontational they should already know verbally and by the way you present yourself that you are ready for physical contact. And you should not just be standing there "to be fair", or think by doing so you look non confrontational and they'll back off.
No one in the inner circle under duress folks. Once inside you have other issues that need unarmed skills to resolve to create distance and time.
Unless it's disparity of force issues, a fist fight or shoving match is not the time to yank the blade. Are you in fear? Sure, you are in a fight. Is a fist fight deemed deadly? hardly. Can it be, yes.
The problem is you are gong to be shoveling it against the tide if you yank it in a fist fight. Thats escalation and will get you time.
Instead of worrying about somebody pulling it out of your pocket after getting into an altercation and too close [ remember the inner circle under duress? ] one should concentrate on refining defensive skills unarmed for when the rule of the inner circle under duress has been breached for whatever reason.
Course it doesn't hurt to be ambi and carry one on each side. It takes practice but is well worth the effort if so inclined.
