I recently bought a Fallkniven U2. VG-10 steel also. I am also a knife beginner but I did not want something as large as the Delica in my pocket. I did not want to clip it on top. The U2 fits great if you want something smaller and appears to be very good quality.

Only knife on his list I would buy is the Native, but I personally much prefer the Delica to the Native. Also a Calaypso Jr. or Dragonfly would be a great choice in a smaller knife while the Endura would be a great pick for a larger one. Just buy Spyderco, you'll be glad you did. I wouldn't get a Kershaw or Griptillian because of bladesteels, VG-10 the Spyderco standard is the best for a folding knife in my opinion and you'll find lots of people here that'll agree on that one.

My first was a Delica - great knife, very versatile.
