Knife Rights' Pennsylvania Switchblade Ban Repeal and Knife Law Preemption Bill Introduced: Pennsylvania Senator Sharif Street has introduced SB 1013, Knife Rights' bill to repeal the Keystone State's ban on switchblade (automatic) knives and enact Knife Rights’ signature Knife Law Preemption.

This is a complimentary bill to the previously filed HB 1929 in the House. Co-sponsors at filing are Senators Maria Collett and Wayne Fontana.

Knife Rights will let you know when it is time to contact your legislators in support of SB 1013 and HB 1929.

Knife Rights had led the effort to repeal switchblade bans or restrictions in 18 states, starting with New Hampshire in 2010. Repeals have since been enacted in Alaska, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin.

Knife Rights helped enact the nation’s first Knife Law Preemption bill in Arizona in 2010 and has since passed preemption bills in Alaska, Georgia, Kansas, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Knife Rights is America’s grassroots knife owners’ organization; leading the fight to Rewrite Knife Law in America™ and forging a Sharper Future for all Americans™. Knife Rights efforts have resulted in 34 bills enacted repealing knife bans in 23 states and over 150 cities and towns since 2010.

Is cutlerylover on youtube here? This is something that would definitely interest him.

doesn't matter, constitutional carry made it to wolf's desk and he vetoed, he'll do the same to this

While that's certainly a possibility, you might consider that we wouldn't waste our resources on an effort like this without a plan that at least offers a hope of success. That starts with our Senate bill sponsor, a Dem from Philadelphia. We have had numerous success in states with anti-2A legislatures and governors because unlike with firearms, we generally get support from both sides of the aisle. Nothing involving legislative efforts is gauranteed, but we do try to tilt the table to our advantage. ;)

You guys made it happen in Indiana and we're still struggling trying to get Constitutional Carry passed into law, so PA people should be optimistic. And contact their legislators. And join Knife Rights.

Funny that a Dem from Philadelphia sponsored this you can't carry a knife in that city.

Doug is right. Without getting too deep into politics, we already have pretty darn good gun laws that are way, way, way, way less restrictive than the silly auto ban. See my comment above about my ability to carry a gun openly without a license yet not able to carry an auto knife.

Elections are coming and there is bound to be shake ups all over the place on all sides of the isles. Good will needs to be built. This is an easy common sense law change.

Just re-upped my membership to Knife Rights and will contact my reps when the time comes and Doug gives the nod. I suggest all in PA do the same.

Philadelphia has completely different requirements to get a LTC than the rest of the state.
Everything I can find says I can carry concealed throughout the commonwealth with my county issued LTC, including Philadelphia. If you can find otherwise, please post the link.

Right. It is no different than any other place one lives in PA. You apply in the county you live. Philly is its own county. Requirements are the same. LTC is good throughout the entire state. No local laws are different (preemption) except in Philly where there is no open carry, concealed carry only for which you need the very easy to get LTC.

PA gun laws a pretty good. This auto law change would make complete sense and align very well with the gun laws we already have.

Thank you, Doug! Anything we can do to help, post it up. I am from PA and would like to carry an auto some day.
