Hi Everyone,

I want to make a leather knife roll for a set of kitchen knives I'm working on. I have a general idea of what I'm doing, but if anyone has any tips or tutorials, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Chris

P.S. Here is a shot of the knives before they were sent off for HT:

Deba, gyuto, nakiri, petty, paring. All in AEBL. This is going to be my "away game" set.

You will want chrome tan leather 2/3oz. Many of these tannagees can be sewn on a home machine with the proper needles. Lots of leather help over on the sheath and such side of BF

AND, you want a blade cover for each knife. The kitchen supply stores and eBay sell them. A sharp knife in a light weight roll will cut it up in no time flat.

Thanks guys! I plan to do integrated sheaths out of leather or (more likely) kydex.

Chris

Go with kydex or the commercial blade covers. Leather sheaths will also have problems eventually in a roll.

Just a note - As a general rule, it isn't good to store knives in leather, especially knifes used in a damp environment.

You may want to take a look at a commercial knife roll or case. The "knife Luggage" by Messermeister and similar companies are very good and very reasonably priced.
Don't your fine knives deserve fine luggage?

To be honest, a professional Messermeister case says a lot to people when you walk in the room with it.

The same goes for knife cases to carry folders and fixed blades. A Bill's multi-knife case/bag says ,"I am a professional knifemaker". If you never have seen a Bill's custom case or bag, take a look. The difference is a lot over a lower price case or bag.
