Knife selection bushcraft vs backpacking

For me, no. Whether backpacking or "bushcrafting," consider only how you will use your knife and what you need in a knife.

for the wide range of tasks you might have to do/want to do, in the outdoors, there really is no 'one size fits all' knife. Some come close, but then that's why there are so many choices available in the market place.
It does not make you a bad person, to just pick what works for you, and to disregard all the internet advice. ;)

A bushcraft knife is a comfortable shorter knife that you carve with, can be used for skinning, food prep and general use. Emphasis is on the comfort and ability to do fine work and special bushcraft cuts etc.

A survival knife is something that will not break under the most extreme conditions because its your only knife from a survival kit or downed aircraft situation.

backpacking you should have a strong knife for harder use work and a finer knife for bushcrafting like a mora

When I packback, I carry a tent, a stove with fuel, and food
I do not need to set up shelters or cut wood for fires for cooking or keeping warm
So I carry a SAK Huntsman and a Mora as a backup fixed blade
Huntsman has a small but serviable saw, and the Mora will baton less than 2" wood

If I was backpacking and wanted to make fires for warmth and cooking, then I would need a better saw and a full tang knife
If I was winter backpacking and wanted to make fire and shelter, then I would include a bigger saw and an axe

I do not hunt, but packing in a camp and setting it up and going out from there
Saw, axe, a strong knife, and a skinner

Bushcrafting?
What is that?
Backpacking in to somewhere, setting up camp and hanging out?
