Southern Steel Rendezvous

I know a few of you have heard of the Southern Steel knife seminar held every year in Little Rock, AR. The past couple of years, people have attended either because of invitation or through word of mouth, but it has been kept intentionally small.

This year, John Saucier, Director of the American Edgewise Society, has decided to open up the seminar and make it more available to the general knife public. For those of you who don't know John, he is a Comtech instructor under James Keating and is a Riddle of Steel alumnus. Every year has a theme, with last year having a Y2K survival-type theme, and the seminars are usually held in hotel banquet halls.

BUT THIS YEAR...
is going to be much different. It's going to be the
SOUTHERN STEEL MOUNTAIN MAN RENDEVOUS!!

The focus this year will be on big knives- Bowies and Toothpicks. The training is going to be in the mountains of Arkansas, right in the heart of Bowie country! John is going to focus instruction on the techniques of throwing Bowies and Toothpicks, while other Riddler alumnus hold mini-classes on different topics including:
*David Scott- use of the Bullwhip
*"Bear" Street- use of the Tomahawk and other right-angle weapons
*Charlie Porter- ahhh yes, the sunrise session with Charlie, a warm-up for the early risers who want to practice their footwork
The evening of the first night (Saturday) will be the banquet (sandwich buffet line) and awards ceremony in the nearby pavilion. Later for entertainment, we will all join in on a Pickin' and Grinnin' session with acoustic instruments (banjos, harmonicas, kazoos, etc.), real mountain man style!
