So I got an early christmas gift a few days ago, its a White River Knives Scout. I love it! The kydex sheath was great when I first got it, but after a few days of occasionally taking the knife in and out of the sheath, there is now some wiggling inside of the sheath. Im only asking about this because I have heard glowing reviews about the kydex sheath that WRK offers. Also I should note that the retention has also gone down, and I am concerned about this because I plan on neck carrying it... Thanks for any and all help! :D

During the time that you've had the knife, was it ever placed near a heat source like a heater/furnace, or fireplace?

Heat can warp a kydex sheath and cause it to become loose.

I had a knife and kydex sheath for several years and the sheath was always tight. Then I left the knife and sheath in my garage throughout one very hot summer. The temps inside my garage were over 100 degrees. In the fall when I retrieved the knife, the sheath was noticeably loose.

I've also heard about the same thing happening to kydex sheaths left in cars over the summer.

I fixed my sheath by heating the mouth with a heat gun and pinching the kydex down around the knife with my fingers. But this can be tricky and doesn't offer any guarantees.

Depending on how loose your sheath is it's possible that it might need to be heated and re-pressed around the blade. But unless you have a kydex press and know what you're doing I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. But I'm sure there are several members of this forum who could do it for you.

no it hasn't, I'm not really sure what happened but it has gotten looser since i bought it.

Most stock kydex sheaths have a little rattle. I usually just drop a tiny slice of bicycle innertube into them. Not enough to close the drain hole at the bottom but enough to kill any and all rattle. Better than using foam as the rubber wont hold water.
