  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Knife Sharpener

I have sandpaper of varying grits in my hiking/camping pack, and the fine/finer Diafold in my BOB.

I can't justify carrying anything heavier. I've even resharpened my Wetterlings Carpenter with the Diafold to a shaving edge. Works great.

I have sandpaper of varying grits in my hiking/camping pack (because I can replace it and use it for other things), and the fine/finer Diafold in my BOB (because it takes ALOT of sharpening to wear it out, and its slim/light).

I just carry a little lansky stone and a small diamond rod with a pen clip. I don't carry any super hard steel knifes with me when I'm in the woods. Anything will lick up an use able edge for me.

For purely a woods survival situation, I pack a smiths diamond stone. It has medium and fine grit, and the handle pops off and the stone reverses and goes into the handle, which makes it a lot more portable. I like this one because it is large enough to be usable on every blade length, including machetes if need be. I use at home a smiths clamp-type diamond setup, but in a last ditch effort, you can make your vlades sharp enough to get out of a situation. Plus, its better than looking for some smooth rocks....

The Smith's like the one above is very handy, great for touching up a machete in the field.
