Hi everyone
I'm sure this topic has been addressed before, I'm new to this forum and was hoping for info. I'm looking for a sharpener that a novice can use. I was looking at a Gatco, Lansky, or maybe an edgepro(if I'm lucky). Thanks for any info on these sharpeners.

Buy 2. A Gatco (much better than a Lansky--wider stones, longer rods, more angles, better clamp) and a Spyderco Sharpmaker 204.

Between these 2, you will be able to sharpen everything out there.

An edgepro is just too much, and too much money. It has its severe limitations.

My vote's for the new Spyderco Sharpmaker 204MF. Easy to use and it's got the 30 degree back-beveling angle for redoing the edge.

Spyderco 204, and you can even use it to resharpen the knives with recurve blades.
