Knife / Sheath Presentation

personally I feel a well executed sheath does complete and enhance the package ...and in some cases a key part of the presentation of a knife..as in the ase with the Winkler Shook collaboration still I dont mind if the sheath is made by a pro sheath maker Like Rowe,Burrows or Nate Christenson(Loveless..Johnson style leather work) but leadtimes and expense become a factor for the maker...anyways it remains a Pet Peeve not a deal breaker

Thought I take the Knife / Sheath theme to its own thread.
I agree it’s very convenient when the maker provides sheaths with his knives, however it needs to be a quality one that matches the knife or it's no need IMO to add the additional expense to the knife. I would rather have it made after the knife purchase. It's always amazed me that several of the better knife makers are also among the better sheath makers. I would put Joe Keeslar, Tim Hancock, Larry Fuegen, Jay Hendrickson and Winkler/Shock in this group. (I know I'm leaving someone out). .
Thought I would share some sheaths that accompany a few of my knives. Please excuse my amateurish attempt at photography.

Great knives and sheaths Riad. The amber stag on the Newton is outstanding.
And of course Coop's photos fantastic.
My photos look OK from my viewer, however when I upload them to Photo Bucket the contrast and color gets amplified for some reason. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Ya better ad Barney Barnes, Mark Sentz, Jack Fuller and Ed Caffrey, among others, to that list of smiths who also make great sheaths. And let us not forget the guys who make those amazing all metal sheaths for Price type knives and others. Are all of your Fisk's wearing Kenny Rowe leather?

Yes, except for the Sheephorn's Chris Kravitte Mexican Loop. I'm in the process of drawing some sheaths for Paul Long to make for my NLT's.
He did a very nice job on the Dean EL Diablo sheath.

Here are a few:

I have been admiring that Burt Foster. He's quite a sheath maker.
Of course the Conner is nice too.

Now this is a thread to marvel at!
Impressive collections guys...
I've been impressed with McIntryre's sheaths. They're pretty simple, rugged, and functional looking yet still very pleasing to the eye.

Fabulous presentation, Kevin! Really nice use of natural materials for the platforms (can't think of a better word).

I have a selection of good well made user knives that I'm proud of

What you all have shown here is mind blowing!

Thanks for showing and enlightening me

I love that top Croc sheath. Filicietti turned out a fantastic sheath before it all went south!

Cheers,

Stephen

Agree with you about that Stephen.
Was informed by Roger of his years of saddlemaking experience.
Hope you don't mind me sticking up your pic again.
Edited to add.Quick google found below, from here in '02.

I agree concerning the importance of the 'right' sheath. The best sheaths are thoughtfully and appropriately matched to the knife, whether simple...

... or elaborate.
