Knife / Sheath Presentation

I agree concerning the importance of the 'right' sheath. The best sheaths are thoughtfully and appropriately matched to the knife, whether simple... ... or elaborate. /QUOTE]

Buddy.
That Chuck Burrows Horned Toad sheath on your site is nothing short of outstanding. The Keeslar is also very nice as are the above.
John Fitch sure does make a nice clean damascus pattern.

... or elaborate.

Not too elaborate, but different. I had Justin Reichert incorporate a walrus net weight artifact in this sheath for my DesRosiers ivory fighter.

Speaking of Andre, if any of you have not seen the Knife/sheath creation by Andre in the very beginning of David Darom's Book "Custom Fixed-Blade Knives" please check it one. It is a quite unique and a wonderful piece of functional art.
Perhaps David will post the photo.

With pleasure, Kevin.

Andre made the knife and sheath especially for my book
"Art and Design in Modern Custom Fixed-Blades",
ending up with truly an amazing sample of his knife art.

Here are the details on the knife:
"Event Oblivion", 2004
The Mosaic Damascus blade has a 15N20/20C Explosion pattern
Damascus edge and spine. The beautiful sheath - made of buffalo horn,
fossil mammoth ivory and Damascus steel - created for storing it, raises
the knife to a higher level.
Overall length 10 2/5" (259 mm).

Ron Newton makes superb all metal, and throat and tip sheaths ..... an integral part of the overall package:

WOW...great thread. Some very fine knives and I fully agree that the right sheath can really add to the package.

That being said, I would say Chris of Treestump Leather does as fine leather work as anyone could hope for. There are many others that do great work too but I have seen and handled a lot of Chris's sheaths and they are superb.

Thanks David.
It took quite an imagination and vision for that sheath/knife design.

Wow! Looking at this thread, and all the beautiful work, I hope that my wife Manuela doesn't see it. She will be embarrassed! I know I am. Makes me wonder why I try and make knives! beautiful stuff. I am humbled. Mike
