Hello,
i´m im on vacation in the south and will be in Orlando on wednesday and thursday. I´m trying to find a knife shop with google but wasn´t too successful. I´m looking for folders like benchmade especially the rukus. Can anyone recommend a knife shop?
your help is very much appreciated.
have a nice one...

There is a Bass Pro Shops Outdoor world in Orlando. If you don't have one in your area, it's an outdoor super store akin to Home Depot, but in the outdoorsy space. They have a larger knife selection than most places other than a dedicated knife shop.

I have tried the bass pro shop and the cigar and knife company in savannah. they had a lot but unfortunately not what i was looking for.

There is a place called the Knife Factory at the Belz Outlet on International Drive that carried a whole lot of Spyderco, Benchmade, Emerson, etc. the last time I was up there. That's the best and only knife shop I know of up there. Randall knives is in Orlando as well and worth checking out if you have the time.

If you don't mind a bit of a drive, there is a shop called Ruff's Saddle Shop in Umatilla, over in Lake County about 25-30 miles west of Orlando. They will put most cutlery stores to shame in the amount of stock that they carry. They will handle Buck, Benchmade, Spyderco, Kershaw, BRK, and several other brands. One entire wall of the store is dedicated to display cases.

The last time I was there, they had several hard-to-find Spydercos and Benchmades. It's well worth the drive over. You can get their address & ph # from the Spyderco web site in the dealer listing. If you decide to drive over there, just give them a call and tell them where you're coming from. They can give you driving directions. It's out in the country, so I would call for directions.

While we're on this subject, without completely hijacking the thread; I swear I haven't found one store near where I live. If any of you know a nice shop in Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area, please let me know

The only good one I knew of when I lived there was on 436 in Altamonte Springs, Knives A Lot, but when I visited in July it was gone.

hello,
here is a wrap up of the story to give you a little feed back.
I started with the belt outlet mall. no luck there. The mall has been renamed and renovated and the knife shop wasn´t there any more.
Next stop was the randall knife factory. Their museum is excellent and the guys there are very friendly. i had a hard time to put together the right knife for me with all the options they offer. but they took some knives out of the produktion to show me how the feature i liked would look like. That was really great service. But still, if i order i have to wait till 2014, thats a long time.
The last stop was ruff´s saddle shop. This shop is awesome. They had many of the knives i´d like to have.(couldn´t buy them all) I got me the mini rukus as a new edc and i´m very happy with it. They offer the best collection of non custom knives i have seen so far.(excluding internet shops). They are a little bit hard to find but the extra effort is worth it. I can highly recommend that shop.
Thank you guys for all the information.
Have a good one

Here in Ocala, Florida we have a store that carries some custom hunting knives made by Wayne Paulk...I have 2 of his knives and they are really the best that I have. Great for skinning and processing the deer I get each year.

I think his vacation is over by now, it has been almost 7 1/2 years since he asked.

If he is still on vacation, I would like to know what he does for a living.

Edit to add: noticed the last post by the OP and his vacation was over prior to 3/30/09 for those keeping track.
Keep working, there isn't a place that offers 7+ years vacation, that I have found yet.

Thanks for the info and good luck with the storm.

For those who got suckered into this thread and are still wondering about knife shops in Orlando, well there still isn't much around 7 years later. Basically you have gun shows, gun shops, or big box stores. The only decent one I have found is Ruff's Saddle Shop (aka Cowboy Knives), but it's about 30 miles away in Eustis. Worth the trip though, it's a cool old store.

We go to Orlando every 4-5 years, got this info saved for next fall.
Is the shop in Ocala near the Garlits museum? We go through there twice...

A Victorinox Bantam will not set off the metal detector at Universal Studios. Don't ask me how I know. ;)
