I'll be up in ATL over the Xmas break visiting the in-laws and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on a good knife shop in or around the area? I currently reside in Miami where we don't have anything to speak of, so I'm really hoping to find 1 or 2 over the holidays. Even a gun shop with a knife section would work at this point.

Thanks Rev. I wasn't sure where to put it, and I couldn't find anything like a regional recommendation in the Community section.

Going Gear Store huh? I'm going to find out where it's at right now. Thanks for the tip.

Edited to add: I just checked out Going Gear online, that place looks like a sure thing. If their instore selection is anything like their website selection, I can't wait. Thanks for the tip for sure.

I've been there and they have a huge in store knife selection...prices tend to be full retail though.

Now I fully plan on making a trip down there eventually, but their prices have left me not really in the mood to make it a priority. I will wait until I happen to be working in Smyrna or something.
I have yet to find a dedicated knife shop in my area. The best way that I know of finding stores is to just go to a manufactures page and go to "find a dealer".
Good luck and if you do happen to find something be sure to let us know!

Going gear has a great selection and it's nice to be able to handle the knives. Adventure Outdoors has a pretty big selection as well. Same deal with full retail price though. If you are driving up then downtown Newnan has a place called Oz Cutlery. Strange store run by a grumpy old guy but occasionally a decent deal can be found. If you dig.

I went to Chuck's firearms in the Buckhead/ Atl area today. They specialize in high end guns and knives. They had a really nice custom fixed blade selection with a few custom folders. There was also a decent protech and benchmade selection.
The staff wasn't the greatest. I was in my old converses, jeans and flannel and they didn't give me the time of day while they greeted every guy who walked through the dore with a suit and tie on. It upset me, but man did they have some nice pieces! I'll probably go back.
