Ok so I travel for a living and always look for local knife shops when I'm on the road. Unfortunately Google doesn't always give me any results so I don't find them unless my chance.

So I'm looking for input on knife shops from everyone that way if I'm in that area I'll check em out. So far I've come across a few, shooters in Lafayette Louisiana, Smokey mountain knife works in seivierville tn. (The largest knife shop I've ever seen) woods and water in Tuscaloosa al, the knife shop in Kannapolis nc. Knife center in Fredericksburg va, Nichols in rock hill sc and sportsman warehouse in Columbia sc.

I know there's a ton more out there so give me some places to visit in my travels.

Thanks

What route are you traveling?

We've been fortunate this summer to have many people traveling the country stopping by, even though we are in a very rural area of northern Wisconsin.

No particular route, every week is a different place. In the past month I've been to north Dakota, Minnesota, north Carolina, Alabama twice, Illinois, Louisiana, Georgia, Florida, Virginia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Tennessee.

What are of Wisconsin are you in? I've been up there a few times.

If you're ever in Louisville, stop by One Stop Knife Shop. Its owned by Spark, the owner of these here forums.

Shepherd Hills in Lebanon MO. A Case distributor but they also sell Buck, Victorinox, Chicago Cutlery, Zippo and lots of other stuff.

We are in Marinette. That is about an hour north of Green Bay, a block off of Highway 41.

If you are ever in the DFW area, House of Blades in NW Fort Worth is worth a visit. Their prices are horribly expensive but it is a cool place to stop by and see a ton of high end knives in the same room.

If you are ever near rockford illinois toms knife shop on perryville road is an awesome little shop tucked away. Lots of gems in there if looking for a desirable dicontinued piece. Lots of random customs he picks up at all the knife shows. Rockford also has flea markets that sell really good stuff though not always the best prices. If ever near salem county il, grand prarie knives is awesome. Last time i was in there it reminded me of a doctors office that sold knives. Very professional and great selection.

Awesome guys thanks, I'm making a list of places mentioned by state so i can check em out if I'm in the area

Wish I'd asked sooner I was just in Chicago and Peoria Illinois a few weeks ago. It's not a knife specific shop but there was a place called Presleys outdoor in Peoria that had a nice selection of benchmade and a few other high and lowend knives.

Grand Prairie Knives in Troy, Illinois. About 15 minutes northeast of St. Louis right off of Interstate 55. Nice little shop with nothing but knives and knife related products. Anything from Rough Rider slipjoints to Sebenzas. Clean store. Great staff. Reasonable prices.

Right off I70 too, I stop there whenever I drive cross country.

I'd like to visit New Graham in Bluefield VA.

If you're in western Maryland, check out Edgeworks in Frederick, MD. If you're on the Delmarva peninsula, check out Willey Knives in Greenwood, DE. If you're in Lancaster, PA check out Country Knives. Country Knives is a great store with a great staff but their prices are MSRP. Edgeworks and Willey Knives are more competitive for a brick and mortar.

I've been to edgeworks before, I use to live an hour away in Winchester va. Never really bought much from em thou. When I was looking to get my bk2 3 or 4 years ago I called and asked about prices and was given a price of $135 for it. I ended up driving to knife centers office when they were still located in md off the beltway and got it for $85.

I have been to some really small knife shops and I don't spend much time in them. Prices are generally pretty high. I don't expect them to duplicate "internet prices", but something in the ballpark would be nice.

I visited New Graham in VA two years ago when I was in the general area (aka had time and cruising up I-77). I liked the shop and spent a couple hours there looking, visiting, and then buying some blades. That's where I purchased my micarta handled Fallkniven F1, BK-2, and a number of other blades. It was a very pleasant experience. It is not huge, but has a lot of knives on display. Everything on their website is in the store for sale as I understand it. There is no big warehouse that they work out of.

I visit SMKW every few months when I am in the vicinity. I use it as a break from driving. Occasionally, I'll make a special trip. I like the store. Their prices are okay; not great. They stock a lot of Condor stuff, Victorinox, and a wide selection of many brands. It is where I keep eyeing up the higher end hatchets and axes..... then I decide not to spend the money. I just don't use them much, but I keep looking and handling. Hard to beat being able to just pick one up and get the feel of it.

I intend to visit Spark's store as soon as I have time and I am in Louisville KY.

I have not visited any cutlery stores west of the Mississippi in years.

Midwest gun exchange south Bend Indiana decent selection and they give a veterans discount nagates their markup from online prices

Just another Thumbs Up for Shepherd Hills Cutlery in Missouri. Best place to buy Case knives, which I only buy in person. Huge parking lot is easy when traveling with a trailer, right next to I-44, and a good exit for hotels and food. The discount/closeout counter is not to be missed. They have really nice bathrooms too. ;)

Great service can be found at Grand Prairie Knives on the Illinois side of St Louis. Location is a short distance from multiple major interstates. Great selection and competitive prices.

Years ago AG Russell moved his showroom location to a new building on I-49 in NW Arkansas. Now that's a place to visit in person, especially when browsing the Cutting Edge catalog.
