Knife shows on cable tv

well after doing a search the guy's name is Chris Kirk, and he's on the Smokey Mountain show.

I dont dislike the guy really, i think he's funny...but a few times he has gone a bit far on the whole right wing propaganda stuff, and i wished he'd have shut up and put more knives on.

Sometimes I yet at the screen, lol...when they go on and on about how the stainless steel is german and german steel is the best...and then the other day, lo get this the guy is showing a rescue knife and he points out that the slit in the handle can be sharpened so that you can cut seatbelts with it, not knowing that the knife blade itself goes into the handle, and thats what cuts the seatbelt...or other materials...Damn their funny! But my ALL TIME FAVORITE is when they talk about the quality of the knives...just cracks me up...but no matter hopw crappy the knives are, they are still knives on TV so I watch...Too bad I can't get Smokey Mountains show, at least I know they have some good knives...but I don't have satellite so I don't get it...

last night was the best though, as todd boone tried to stab a blunt tip rescue knife into a block of wood -- didn't quite work, gee I wonder why?

LOL, Yeah but as bad as he is I don't think that Shawn Leflar should be making all those remarks...Hes not so bright himself, and he has proven that many times during the show...lol...If you watch the 2 of them their just messing around but Shawn makes fun of Todd, and Todd just takes it...why? Does he just not have any good come-backs? But.............I still enjoy watchign the show, like I said its a KNIFE SHOW and I love knives so I watch it...

SMKW is alright, some of the slipjoints are good quality stuff. The hosts, well, I could take 'em or leave 'em. At least they've got a clue and come across with some measure of sincerity about the knives.

The other dudes with the Frost line are just pure entertainment to me. It's one of those things where no matter how bad I might be feeling, I can watch those goofs and be happy to think "At least I'm not shilling those POS knives for a living."

Hi Cutlerylover, I watched that clip on YouTube......ouch!!! I wonder what happened to him? I think the first thing we learn about blades of any kind is to have respect for them and what they are made to do. I know I've been careless enough to get a few scars, but thankfully, nothing like the guy with the katana.

He probably just got some stitches...he was back on the show 3 days later...The funny thing is thats the "spine whack" test they do to show quality...lol...Too bad he got hurt while he demonstrated how poor the quality of the swords are...

I see that Shawn guy all the time selling electronics now.... maybe he hung up the knife business after he impaled himself on some broken chinese steel.

He does a few different shows on shopathome...electronics is one of them...The have their regulars for each show but they use fill ins all the time, but no matter who was the guest on the Knife Collectors Show, Shawn Leflar was always the "host" so to speak...

Actually the show is on right now and will be on straight until oike 5 or 6 AM so if anyone is readign this right now you can check it out, just click on the link above to watch the live feed...LOL, he just set up a Hen and Rooster bowie (that he clamined was highest quality fixed blade avaliable, lol) and the second he walked away the thing fell off the turn table...lol the show is just too funny! If you ahven't seen it before I suggest you check it out...Its worth at least a minute or two of your time!

Smokey Mountain Knife Works has a show that airs on satellite TV on Monday and Friday nights, from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. Central. They sell a lot of slipjoints, an occasional tactical, and quite a few fixed blades. Brands are primarily Case, Queen, Buck, Hen & Rooster, etc. for their quality knives, and they will also sell inexpensive knives like Rough Rider. A few of their offerings are exclusive to SMKW.

On Dish Network the show comes on channel 221.

If you don't have Dish Network, you can still see the show. Just go to the Smokey Mountian Knife Work site and click on the yellow banner at the bottom of the page.

If you click on it during the show, you can then click on the speed you have on your internet and you can see the show on your computer. They sell a lot of stuff from China, but they do sell some nice things. Sometimes their prices or cheaper than the catalog and sometimes they sell things that are not in the catalog. Still when I watch it, I can only take about 20 to 30 minutes of it and I have never bought from the show.

It will be on tonight, you may want to give it a shot.

theres this other jackass who sells knives on cable. Chris somethingortheother. Wears a Tennesee vols hat. He has good knives and everything, but this guy is a super right winger christian conservative, and the show is just as much about insane propaganda as it is about selling knives.

I think Chris Kirk is better than the many hosts that run the show now, I always thought he knew what he was talking about, I learned alot from him, untill I found blade forums, that was the only info I could get. I like the preaching he did, we need more of that these days (I still wish it was like the old days). I hate that he stopped hosting, you never know who will hosts it (it changes every show), I still learn from it (although not as much). I don't know how you got the oppinion you did of him:confused: , I think he is a good guy and a great knife show host.

I have been to Smokey Mountains website many times and I have clicked on that banner several times and all I gte is information about when its one...how do I watch it from my computer?

Never mind I figured it out, Thanks!

BJE, Chris Kirk left the show over six months ago. It was my understanding that he actually didn't work directly for SMKW -- he was paid a percentage of each sale. Anyway, the show's name changed when Kirk left...it's now called SMKW Knives Live, and they have rotating hosts. The products seem to be about the same, but it seems to me that the show isn't quite as heavily into the higher quality knives as they used to be. That's just my impression, though, I don't watch it much any more.

The old days as in....homophobia? and calling everyone who's not a "good ol boy" a communist or unpatriotic? Some nights I wondered how in the hell he was getting away with the things he was saying. STFU Chris Kirk and show some knives .

I just disagree with him. I like his knives. I dont like his commentary.

Guess what I saw a Cold steel fixed blade on the knife collectors show last night! They flashed it for like 10 seconds and said they only have a dozen to go around, it was $156 plus shipping...The Tai Pan...It was just nice seeign a good knife on the show, I emailed them to ask for more like that, better name brands...but I am sure they have some kind of deal with frost cutlery since thats most of the knives on the show...Im not sure they will change the show based on ym request but it couldn't hurt to ask right...

On the MythBusters Movie special, they examined the common film scene where one sword slices another in cleanly in two, in battle. At the moment I'm watching MythBusters episode "More Myths Revisited", where they test a Japanese sword blade against a Browning .30 cal MG barrel. They heated the barrel in a charcoal (not briquettes, looked like actual wood, lol) fire to 600 degrees F.

I won't spoil the endings for those who haven't seen either show, but I enjoyed 'em. Kind of sloppy science, but good entertainment and somewhat surprising results.

The response generated on the MB fansite, whoever, is at times truly sidesplitting. http://community.discovery.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/9401967776/m/1021951058
