Hey, guys. Just sitting here watching Navy NCIS. Denozo (Michael Weatherly) asks Gibbs (Mark Harmon) to borrow his knife. Gibbs asks him where his is. Denozo replies that he forgot it. Gibbs then repeats "rule #9-always carry a knife." Later the two investigate where the sniper might have fired from in an abandoned building. Gibbs asks Denozo for his knife again, and Tony pulls out what looks like either a Spyderco Delica or Endura! Gibbs then pulls out his own knife telling Denozo that he was just checking up on him. The camera does a tight close up of Gibbs' knife and it looked like a Gerber Harsey Air-Ranger. I love it! Got to see two knives on a prime-time show, and they were shown as tools! Even though they pried with the Gerber twice! Here's hoping more shows will pick up on this and portray knives as tools in the good guy's hands, not weapons in the bad guys hands. Although, I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah... Rule #9 Rocks!!

Now... Identify the blades!

Sorry Joeshredd. Didn't know you were going to post on this. I taped the episode last night and it looks like Denozo has either a Delica or Endura, and Gibbs' knive looks like a Gerber Harsey Air-Ranger.

I've spotted a few knives that I can remember:
-a Spyderco Civilian (SS handle?) in Bad Boys
-a Spyderco Endura in Eraser
-a Spyderco Rescue in Stargate SG-1

I've prob seen others but for some reason I only recognize Spydercos bc of that big hole. :)

Flinx... no biggie... just glad someone else saw it!
And if you go to the other version of this in Community Center, someone guessed it's a microtech in Gibb's hand... I thought it was a Benchmade 970 (?)... but my eyes ain't what they used to be...

I saw the show and earlier in the show I thought it was a BM 710, but when he opened and used it again to pry the brick, thought it did look like a Gerber Air Ranger.

If you check out the movie Stir of Echoes, the woman who plays Kevin Bacon's wife carries an old Benchmade Spike (out of production now for many years) for self-defense and uses it. In Training Day, Denzel Washington carries a SS Spyderco Police(these are just a couple of movies in recent years of note in which top companies' knives appear).

Last weekend I caught an episode of Macgyver.

Fairly ridiculous, but he does use that SAK all the time. Well this time he had amnesia  , so he had a shotgun as well (MacGyver hates guns). He was in a mine and was trying to rescue the girl, but the opening was criscrossed with tripwires. So he think for a few seconds, then he takes out a shell, his SAK and proceeds to take the shell apart. he hammers the lead pellets flat, then ignites the powder to melt the lead. He then uses the lead to fuse the metal parts of the shotgun (breech action) to the trip wires, so he can maintain the circuit, cut the wire in the middle, and squeeze through.

Man, I was rolling...OTMFFLMAO!!

But hey, it's Macgyver...

Last Tue's episode the new girl was carrying a Cold Steel Kobun on her left side. She later throws it into a badguy after they make her drop her gun.

I bet one of them is. Don't buy a Gerber because they are junk. LOL Just kidding. Glad to see the show some knife content on prime time.

A recent favorite prime time knife showing of mine is last week on "Surface" the female main character asks the male main character, "do you have a knife?" he responds; "I'm wearing pants arent I?" and pulls some type of clipit out of his pocket. I cant help but say that now any time someone asks if I have a knife.

I was watching CSI: Las Vegas and saw what appeared to be a busse fixed blade in a box next to a fridge. It was an episode where some kids father made explosives and the kid killed someone and right when they found the knife they opened the fridge and it was full of explosives and they blew it up...Anyone else see it?

Here's a shot of Gibbs' knife.

Definitely the Gerber Fred Carter Utility.

The really impressive thing is that they've shown the knife in a number of episodes and it's been the same in each one.

Here's Tony. Looks to be an FRN Endura.

In another episode McGee uses a SE FRN Endura to cut Kate loose after she'd been tied up.

Another Spyderco show up in the episode with Terry O'Quinn(Locke from Lost). It was a stainless Endura I think.

Like I needed another reason to watch this show.

FlaMtnBkr, I saw that episode also. That was a Busse Steel Heart - E series if I recall. The was some talk of it in the Busse forum when it was out the first time.

Good catch btw!
