Knife sounds

Some of my favorite knife sounds are an Espada XL aluminum, a Yojimbo 2, the Spyderco Advocate and the Microtech UTX-70.

Is it possible that the dull sounds are an indicator of the steel type and heat treatment and not just the mechanism?
A dull thud - soft low HRC steel.
A light ting - high HRC steel, like two ball bearings being clanged together ?
Exploring that a bit further the close might be more indicative,
Dull thud can also be from coating - my Yojumbo is not as loud and clicky as my Yo2 uncoated Cruwear.

Important? Not really.

Some are more satisfying, at least to me.

One of the best opening sounds to my ear is from a ZT 0888.
