Registered and certified are two other USPS mail options people often ignore. When it travels under lock and key EVERYWHERE the chance of loss or theft is pretty remote.

I found out about another service from USPS recently but I can't remember what it was called. For $10 they will ship the package within it's own cage so it doesn't touch any other boxes which I thought was pretty awesome and well worth it. I sold this crazy knife art sculpture on ebay that had knives pointing in every direction so if the package was dropped too hard or if another heavy package was set on top of it, the knives would have poked through the cardboard box walls. So the service worked out perfectly and arrived with no issues.

It's not a very useful service for knives but if you ever have a sensitive package that you don't want any other box to touch during transit, it's pretty awesome for $10.
