Knife Spotting

At my work I've spotted a Manix 2, a Boker Whale, a SOG Spec Elite II, two Kershaw Leeks and a Delica. Other than that I've seen a ton of those cheap Gerber Paraframes.

I've mostly seen Kershaws, CRKT, Gerber, a Spyder or two, a couple Sogs recently, a few Benchmades I think, a bunch of stuff i couldn't tell what it was. The two nicest I've seen were a Strider SNG and a small Micarta Sebenza. Both guys let me check them out, very cool.

Oh lord you want a list?

My friend - Spyderco Para 2
My girlfriend - Meyerco Maxx-Q Bowie Blade
Brad at knife shop - Strider SNG
Andy at Knife shop - Hinderer XM-18 3" Spanto Flipper and Spyderco Pingo
Brian at knife shop - ZT 0560
Girl at knife shop - Kershaw Blue Smoke Leek
Random guy at knife shop - Spyderco Endura ZDP-189 Saber Ground
Random guy at knife shop - Kershaw OSO Sweet
Some Kid at knife shop - Cold Steel Triple Action
Cop - Ka-Bar TDI and 5.11 Tactical Sidekick Boot Knife
Some guy - Kershaw Vapor
Guy at a party - Smith and Wesson something or other, I showed him my Sebenza to show him a nice knife... he asked if it was a Kershaw.
Man at Walmart - Buck 110
Guy I met to do a trade - ZT 0550

There are more I can't think of right now.

I do alot of fishing... I met this latino guy who used a buckmaster to cut worms.

And I can recognize benchmades from a mile away ;)

I try not to have my eyes wandering around other mens' waist area!
When I see people pull out knives, they are almost always cheap junk.
Around here it is often Gerbers because people don't know any better
and think they are the same quality they were 20 years ago.

Totally describes my father. It took forever for me to explain the whole Fiskars thing to him.

I'm a forestry student, so most of my classmates carry knives. When out in the bush one day I got a chance to see what they were carrying and only one person aside from myself had a knife worth having. Depressing...
Friends don't let friends buy knives at Walmart.

My regional manager stopped by my office yesterday and I noticed a Sabenza clipped to his jeans (he is almost always in dress pants) and when I asked him about it he said its always with him he just doesnt keep it visable very often. He told me his wife got it for him almost 10 years ago and has carried it everyday since. Needless to say it had seen a bit of use.

Most every other person I work with carries either a Gerber of some sort. Only a few of us carry knives really worth the money we spent on them.

Just this year I was at work and a guy recognized that I had a Sebenza clipped to my pocket. He was real excited to see it and quickly showed me his BM705. Great little knife!

Went to a local knife shop here in Columbus yesterday (River's Edge) and the guy helping me was carrying, of all things, a Spyderco Tenacious and a Spyderco Delica wave.

One of the police officers pulling security at my school's Christmas dance last week had a SOG Vulcan in his right front pocket. I wanted to say something, but I decided against it because I couldn't think of a way that wouldn't have been awkward. And my date probably wouldn't have been too happy about it either...

I guess people in my country are rather poor equipped or well, just no equipped at all.
Saw a guy cutting up an apple with a Victorinox.
Saw another guy once doing something with an Opinel, he also had a Leatherman on his belt.
That's pretty much it, except for fishermen next to rivers or canals having unidentifiable crappy knives for fixing their lines.
Ow yeah, construction workers with box cutters, that too.

People around here usually just have junk like "Frost Cutlery". But so far I have ran into 2 different guys that pulled out Benchmade Infidels, a Kershaw Blur and a Benchmade 940.

Saw a couple Kershaw Blurs today.
Saw my buddy carrying his Byrd Cara Cara 2 I sold him.
A buddy of mine started carrying a Leatherman SuperTool this week.
Don't really know if those count because I am the one who got most of those to carry/use/own decent knives

Saw two today at lunch. One of the staff had something that looked like maybe a Bucklite, and another customer had something I didn't recognize.
