knife steel book is available now : ) thanks @Larrin

Very cool book, missed this thread a month ago. Ordering it now! You should do a special edition with a steel cover!

Wait no, that would be a bad idea, everyone would be running hardness tests or complaining about the heat treat.

1. Make the edges parallel to spine be sharpened so I can baton with my book.
2. Make the other edges 90 degrees so I can make a spark with them.
3. Inside the front cover can be embedded with a diamond plate sharpening stone. Inside the back cover can be embedded with a natural sharpening stone.

I think we are on to something here ...

Thanks, Larrin. That's nice to hear. I hate paperbacks. Is there going to be a hardcover edition?
Just as an FYI, it is super easy to convert a paperback to hardcover. Some thin pieces of wood, some super glue, crayons or markers and BAM you are in business.

Good idea. I was thinking about maybe a leather cover of some sort.

Well I guess if you want to get fancy pants, that is also an option. In all seriousness, you can get a bookbinder to do a conversion for you.

I updated the book by correcting typos and adding conversions to Celsius throughout the book. I would call it a "revision" rather than a new edition. Purchases from Amazon are now the new revision.

Still gotta get my hands on one so this is perfect.

I just looked this up on Amazon.com and they say they will ship to Australia now. I bought two copies (one for a friend who is a professional knife maker) and the order seemed to go through.

Great! It’s also available from Gameco now.
