Knife Steel Composition Android App

You might send a suggestion to the developers about that, you never know. They are usually pretty open to ideas that will improve the app.

I've put in a request for info with HeatBath/Park Metallurgical, Admiral, Carpenter, and a couple others to send to my Ap development team for a program similar to Zvisoft's Blade Fe ap. Shouldn't be too too hard--it's just time consuming cross referencing.

I downloaded the steel chart ap the other day (you can set Android market to send you alerts on various keyterms) and have been playing with it before sharing. How do you like it Patrice?

Thanks Gator97.

Not bad Ed, but I just work with basic steels so I might not appreciate it as much as some of the more Heat treat inclined around here.

Nice ap, does not take too much space and the comparison chart is cool. I hope the ht ap comes about soon.

For those of you that have an android phone or tablet:

I don't have any Apple devices but there may be a similar app for them.

Application has been ported to iphone. However, due to Apple publishing policies I had to pull it from the itunes store. Once I have my LLC documents and Apple converts my account, I'll put it back on itunes. It's the same functionality(almost) as on android and both apps synchronize with central database on zknives.

My girlfriend is at the moment developing a new application (upon my request) with a minimum knife steel database (you can add new steels) and relative heat treatment. The application is completely customizable...a portable recepit book for the steels we actually use, with forging, normalizing, quenching and tempering suggestions, and with the possibility to improve the facts with our own earned experiences. I think it sould be completed and published within few weeks.

Love the app - thanks!! Have had your Steel FAQs & comparison chart on my bookmark list for years.
+1 on adding HT info.

Thank you Patrice for bringing this to our attention and Gator97 for all his hard work and willingness to share with us! Installed and works perfectly on my older Ipod.

Thanks for getting the iOS version out! I had the original on my work Android device, but
it's much more useful on the iPhone I normally carry.

Thanks everyone, feedback is appreciated.
Please, rate the app to show support, ratings button is under "More" menu.

As for the HT, I am not a knife maker and HT info I see here and there on occasion varies in format. That makes it rather difficult to somehow systematize and attach to database records. Plus there are multiple HT methods for individual alloys.

If someone can point out and explain to me how to read/understand HT info and you guys agree on common format that can be done.
