I keep my larger blades in a briefcase, the type that opens up like an old suitcase. I want to replace the old tired lining with some of the black eggcrate style foam.
Any idea where I can purchase some?
I tried a camera supply house but they only had small sheets. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

Try gun and sport shops that sell gun safes. Mine came with a big pack of assorted foam sheets and strips and adhesive tapes.

Try some of the high end stereo/home entertainment stores in your area. Ask for Egg crate acoustic foam.
Be sure to toss in some Silica Gel Desicant as that type of foam tends to hold a bit more moisture than your knives would like.

I keep my edged tools in an old military wooden lock box and use worn merino wool socks to protect them. I was going to use foam padding, but thought that it might attract moisture. Good call on the Silica gel desicant. Gonna get some.

www.pelican.com has replacement foam for their great boxes. Foam is not a moisture problem but a sealed container traps moisture .Best keep it open or use silica packets.

Also, If you're going to store them for an extended period, i.e., not handling them for a while, a coating of white lithium grease works well.
But, take my advise and listen to what Mete has to say.

A lot of Gurkhas use baby talc on their ceremonial kukri, it works very well.

Thanks Gents, The Pelican company had the solution. I appreciate the heads up and all the other input.
Stay safe, stay sharp.
