Wandering through Lowe's today, and spotted this:

Craftsman Versastack 2 drawer cabinet. They're stackable, they latch together, and at $30 relatively cheap.

The drawers measure roughly 13 1/2" wide, 11" deep, and 1 1/2" high. The latching mechanism takes up about 9 square inches of drawer space. The dividers are easily removable.

Aww, what do you know? it holds knives.

I have no affiliation with Lowe's, Craftsman, or anyone else who stands to make a buck on these things... Just thought these things had possibilities.

I use my comic book box for safe queens that I want to store the knife boxes. My users just sit on top of my entertainment shelf.

I like that wood craftsman cabinet. I do come across nice ones at flea markets and yard sales but don't have the room for them.

jnevill that looks like an awesome setup u got there!
I keep my favorites (like 30 or so) in a 80# sentry safe....the rest are in a shoebox and 2 ZT storage bags

I just use a small Rubbermaid Roughneck tote for my small 100 knife collection.

I use one of those $20 aluminum briefcase looking deals. It’s not that great. I want something with a lot of dividers.

I use Nalpak Pelican boxes, but looking for something more like a those wooden toolboxes, or like an an architecture/map dresser thing, with the big flat shelves.

Just for the heck of it, here's part of the storage situation:

The stack of intermediate chests fit in a modified Sauder wardrobe. What can I say, I like drawers. :)

I found the Apache 3800 case to be a nice option – likely a Pelican case knockoff. From the image, clearly I need more knives to justify the size of the case.

For something portable, the Boker Plus Knife Vault works well:

I put some of my hawks, short swords, bayonets, and machetes in these, and slide them under the bed. I can fit 6-9 items side by side (mostly).

I found this toolbox (used) at a flea market. I keep my smaller knives, and small knife accessories in this. Case, SAK, etc. I put the users on top for easy access. This is fairly easy to carry around the house.

These are what I use for the rest. I like them because they are easy to push around the house. I can clean knives while I am watching TV, or on the internet without spreading knives all over the place. I can fit about 30 folders side by side per shelf. I keep my users in snack ziplocks, and the rest in their boxes. You have to be careful distribute knives fairly evenly. If a drawer is too full it may sag, and warp the shelf bottom. I have over 150 knives in two of these. I also put 4 machetes, or hawks on top. No sagging:).
