For you guys who have collections of knives. How do you store them. I'm getting a rather growing collection and I have a tendency to misplace them. I sometimes just throw them in the gun safe, but it's is getting kind of cluttered.

I suppose there may be better contact info to follow but BladeGallery.com works OK. :)

I got some very good quality zipper cases from a guy at the BLADE show in ATlanta Ga. On the case it says "UNCLE AL" and it has the phone number 870-642-7643. I have dealt with them once since then. They are really nice and accomodating people. The pouches seem like excellent quality too.

The Spyderco zipper cases are also excellent quality as well. You can get decent prices from them buying them by the dozens. I also use dessicant packs that I got from a guy who used to work at a big manufacturing plant. He said they were throwing them out after only one use. They work quite well. Also I have heard like the other brother that the Renaissance Wax is super good stuff. But I have also used Flitz's metal wax as well with great results.

If any of you guys knows of a USA company who makes high quality footlockers I sure would like to know about them. I am gettting so many knive that I would like to invest in a good quality footlocker to put away some of my collector pieces. Thanks you all. JD

I like to use an old machinists toolbox I got cheap at a flea market. It has small drawers that are lined with felt and are the perfect size. Mine had the front lock/door which covers the draws missing but is still perfectly usable so long as you don't move it too much. paid $5.

I use a Gerstner Chest. They're pricey (some would say overpriced:D ) but the quality is amazing and they will last for generations.

BooVoo, and everyone else too.
Between my wife and I we have 3 of what I think are copies of those chests and they cost me less than $100. I bought them all through Sam's Club. Although one looks just like a Gerstner (different drawer configuration) I think you can also get such models on eBay. The quality seems pretty good on them, other than I had to screw the handles a little tigher because several of the arrived loose. I'm not saying the quality is the same, but they are all as functional as I need them to be.

I keep a coat of oil on my knives in my safe, my more valuable ones are in plastic baggies. Sentry safes are really moist, so i oil them regulary.

I've used ammo cans most of my life. My dad used them also and taught me how to warm them up with the lids off. Stick them in the oven and get em hot. Not so hot that they are going to burn you but hot or very warm to the touch. Load up what you have packed up to put in them and then close the lid down. Make sure you only use ones with a good rubber seal on the lid. As the metal cools it acts like its own vacuum seal and sucks down good. My dad stored ammo this way for many years. I still shoot some of it every hunting season and for plinking. Some of it is as old as the hills but still shoots fine.

Only thing I'll put on my knives is Rig from Brownelle's. One step down from Cosmolene. Comes with its own wool applicator cloth. Check out a rust prevention comparison on-line if you can do a little research. If I can find the link I'll post it here later.
That "Uncle Al" mentioned by JD Spydo is the owner of Riverside Machine. We call him "Uncle Al - The Knifemaker's Pal"! Check Riversidemachine.com.
I find my zippered knife cases at gun shows for $3.00.

I bought a cheap wooden slat bookcase and put the blades in between the slats. My larger weapons are hung on nails in my downstairs dojo, and my neck knives and folders are on my wall- hung/clipped to 2 parallel pieces of paracord with clips facing out (I hate seeing a knife but never seeing the clip- clips are important parts of EDC knives and as such deserve to be shown)

Can someone recommend a knife roll or case for small folders? Most of my knives are roughly the size of a 91mm SAK. Almost all the cases and rolls at Smokey Mountain are not in stock. I prefer something that has elastic loops versus pockets because I want to see my folders. Also I want the option of rolling/closing it up and putting away or hanging it up on a wall to display. I can go with either hard side or soft side.

I use a nice craftsman ball bear drawer lockable tool chest. Lined the drawers with soft non-skid rubber mat. 26 inch long case will hold about 100 to 150 folders.

Btt....I was wondering if anybody has found anything better. The Tool box sure works for me but I am open to other suggestions.
