Knife Storage...

Figured I would ask amongst like minded company...

How do you gents store your collections?

Currently Im using my gun safe, but the pistol and knife collection is starting a small war inside the vault, and a solution needs to be found soon before their are casualties.

I've been thinking about a "top stack" tool drawer unit like this for my "daily users" and less expensive knives:

So what do you think about moisture, security, etc?

If security isn't a big priority, a $20 Bait Box from wally world works great.

I use a tackle box (lots of separate compartments) with a silica pack in each slot. The top holds my cleaning and disassembly supplies. You can padlock it shut if necessary.

Thx, Riff, wasn't sure if it was sub-forum appropriate or not. Also, thx for the super search...It's about account upgrade time on my end...

If you want tool-chest style storage but a bit more refined look, check out gerstner tool chests.

Those are gorgeous but $790 buys so many knives! Definitely a choice for a subtle display and my wife would actually let me keep it INSIDE the house.

I think SV might be onto more my idea...I just need something to store and separate the "no security required" pieces, and I can keep filling my safe with the good stuff until it becomes an issue again (probably sooner than I will consciously admit).

Wow, NICE collection JM.

I do have a ton of fixed blades and the Barkie addiction isnt getting any better than the Kershaw...the ol toolbox might still be in the options list.

Joe, you might find this an interesting read.

I use a shoebox....but I'd like to upgrade.

But, that being said, the shoebox serves its purpose!

In the circumstance that a kid would be in my apartment, the shoebox would go on top of the refrigerator.

Brad,

I read a couple pages in already, and I hear it only gets worse (been short on time in the worst way). Wonderful product, horrible business...what else can be said.

I dont have any new found outlets for my fixed blade collection...catch 22.

*EDIT* Hmm, I don't know what happened, Jcurd, but I meant to quote you, not myself:D My wife was talkin' to me at the time, and well, you know how that goes;)

Why, thank you very much J:)

That picture was taken over a year ago. You oughta see things NOW.:D

Feel free to drop some knowledge on me (and some microfilm of your potentially purchasable treasures)

*insert evil grin*

Johnnymac, do you have the green Ti Bump yet? Nice setup BTW! Joe

Hey Joe,
As a matter of fact, I DO have the green Ti Bump. In fact, I have a green and blue with matching serial numbers:D Beleive it or not, it was a completely random thing, it just worked out this way. I bought them years apart and had no knowledge of what the numbers would be, just turned out they were both number 1004!!

Must have been a kharma thing. You were good? That's almost too much of a coincidence. The 3rd color doesn't have serial numbers does it?, so there's no point in looking. Joe
