Knife Storage

I restore old fixed blade and folding knives and sheaths. and I can't tell you how much damage I have seen to sheaths, blades, liners, and bolsters from storing in a sheath. Also there is hidden damage from thumbprints which literally burn into the metal of a knife blade. The other posters are not wrong, but there is a wide variety of materials used and climactic conditions where your knife is stored. To be safe, all of my knives are stored away from their sheaths.
