Hey guys, I'm getting to the point where I have so many knives scattered all over my desk that it ceases to be a desk and becomes a storage shelf :). What are some ways you guys store your knives? I was looking to do some kind of pouch system where I could sort by manufacturer.

I used to have the same problem..shoe boxes got to be a pain in the next..plus now i have kids..i went down to the army/navy store bought those steel ammo boxes..for about 5-10 bucks...hard to open so the kids cant get to them...keep my knives in their original boxes in the ammo boxes....never had a problem...

When questions like this come up, I always recommend these "Bill's Custom Cases".

The lining is very gentle on your knives and they are available in many different sizes and colors.

You could go soft storage with a spyderpac, or maxpedetion decapod. I know benchmade makes or made a knife box.

I've had a code suitcase for years sitting in my bedroom without being used so i decided to fill it with pick n pluck foam and make me a very cool storage case:)
With this system i can get rid of the boxes, keep the knives without touching each other preventing it from scratches and also rust.
I got the idea here:

Since i first saw it i always wanted to have this system for my knives but pelican cases are a little expensive so i decided to maximize my long forgotten code suitcase.
It's not the most awesome job in the world but it's very suitable:)
Still i believe pelican cases are the best storage sytem!
Hope you like it and that this may be of some help!

i use a spyderpac myself and its great! get the largest size possible... im sure you already know how fast collections can grow lol.

How about drawers sorted by manufacturer?

I use Craftsman tool boxes because they are lockable and not easily carried off.

Check out Serpac.

I never thought of that! I got an old suitcase just sitting around in my closet. Thanks for the idea!

Kobalt tool chest from home depot. I had the same problem to the point where I lost track of a couple of my spydercos. Got the kobalt box(similar to the craftsman shown above)and have had no problems since then.

Umm, Kobalt tools are from Lowes, not Home Depot. They have Husky tools ;)

I use small wooden boxes with a piece of felt lining the bottom. They are stackable, which is nice. Looks like this (cropped down to the interior):

careful that the color from the felt doesn't transfer to the handle scales

I use a tool chest myself

i wish i had that many knives to have the problem. if i did i think i would drop them in a sock and put them in a shoe box in a safe.

Various Cordura Zip Storage Cases from SMKW. I've found they are priced right and if bought in quantities, there are further discounts.

-A Knife Briefcase that Holds up to 22 Knives
-A Cordura Velcro Closure Knife Pack that Holds 12 Knives
-Various Cordura Storage Pouches for single pocket knives or fixed bladed knives.Available from 7" to 17"

I do something similar to Guyon. However, I am way behind in storage slots. Many sit in their orginal boxes in a book carton sized plastic tub (used to be a cardboard box). Some go in my safe in their original boxes. Some lie around on my desk. Some are stacked on a book case shelf which is great if you have the shelf space. The problem I have is that I often can't find what I'm looking for on a particular day. I'm still looking for some.... guess I need a better "system". Hence I have trouble honestly answering the question "how many have you got?".
