Hello everybody,

I need a recommendation. I am looking at the following brands off knives:

Chris Reeve
Emerson
Strider
AL MAR

And also:
Spyderco
Benchmade

I would like to find a store or a number of different stores that carry a wide choice of each brand.

Check out Tom's Cutlery in Rockford IL (www.tomscutlery.com) or Moore Cutlery in Lockport IL (www.knives.cx) . Tom has a lot of production stuff and some nice customs where as Gary (Moore) has a lot of customs and was trying to get out of the production biz last I heard.

Shore Galleries in Lincolnwood has a fairly extensive array of Spyderco Benchmade Kershaw Buck Browning and Cold Steel, no customs that I'm aware of . Northwest Cutlery downtown Chicago (810 Lake St. I think) used to have some nice folders, production, it was somewhat reduced last time I was there, but check it out. No customs as far as I know.

Perhaps a little OT and and off in the future, but this time next year, maybe we'll have a Cabela's ... they're looking to buy some property in Hammond, Ind., and the owners have agreed to sell.

From the local papers, it looks like there's still some negotiations to go regarding incentives and the like.
Not a knife shop, per se, but if we get one of those big ol' toy stores nearby, my wallet's going to be hurting!
