Knife Stupidity on the "Castle" TV Show

I'm a big Firefly fan and Nathan Fillion fan also. I enjoy Castle for what it is, pure entertainment. In fact, I'm sure the OP would forgive this show it's grievous offense/s had he saw the episode with the girl in her undies (*cough* Hotty) taking out the garbage. It was a sight to behold.

I gotta keep watchin'. :)

and anyone is surprised to find that movies are a font of inaccurate info on knives, guns, tactics.....................

Fellas....I don't know how to break this to you.....but not everything you see or hear in movies is.....well......factual....??

Just keep that in mind while you watch Avatar......:D

Exactly so. This stuff we watch on TV is entertainment, fantasy, that's all it is. I personally love it. Five hundred years ago, Shakespeare was writing plays and producing them on stage for the entertainment of his friends and public. And what he was producing was fantasy: Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, MacBeth.

Just kick back and enjoy whatever you like

I hear ya. Firefly was as good as any of the Star Wars series. Besides Gina Torres (Zoe) and Summer Glau (River Tam) my favorite character was Jayne Cobb played by Adam Baldwin. He usually packed some kind of a big knife. He was a goofy, double-crossing, kill-em-all, let's-have-a-beer type.

Back to the topic: Producers don't want to spend money for somebody to do research on a knife which is only there for a few seconds.

Now let me go off topic again. I've recently discovered the second generation Battlestar Galactica. There was a special episode called "Razor".
There was a folder that was central to the plot, being passed along from character to character. I didn't identify it, can anybody here tell us about it?

Supposed to have been a William Henry lookaline, either a Browning or a Böker Magnum Cosmos.

In the same episode Kate Beckett uses her knife to open a bag of heroin.
She then does the old finger dip & taste test to confirm it`s drugs. I don`t think that is standard police procedure.

Maybe someone recognizes the type of knife she uses.

I saw that and couldn't figure it out and didn't bother to rewind. Looks to me like a Kershaw Scallion in the second shot, though.

I think you`re right about the Kershaw Scallion. The form of the blade and the writing on it seem to fit.

to summarize:
The coroner calls the Dalton Cupid clone a 4inch stiletto with a damacus blade and dismisses it as the murder weapon because it`s to small.
The actual murder weapon is the SOG Daggert, wich ExSpecOps-guy uses to kill his victims with a single blow. He than stabs them several times with the same knife (SOG), to disguise his military training. He also hones the blade so fine , that when it hits bone shrivels of steel are left behind in the bodys of his victims.

Castle is a great show, despite any real or imagined inaccuracies. A few episodes back, someone used a Spyderco to cut some crime scene tape, which I thought was cool.

I'll watch Nathan Fillion in anything. If you haven't checked out Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog, put it on your Netflix queue right now. Nathan Fillion as Captain Hammer, that's all I'm saying.

Yup, that's it, thank you Enderwiggin:thumbup:

As I recall in the series, that knife was a battlefield pick-up and it got passed forward as a token to various commanders as they became ruthless in their command tactics; hence, they became a "Razor".

By the way, thanks to all of you...some of you guys really have the details down :D...it's good to know we can depend on you for the right info.:)

I tried to find the scene with just the girl, but it seems Castle isn't popular enough or I'm lousy at finding these sort of things. I CAN tell you it was Season 2, episode 10 " One Man's Treasure "
