Knife style for Gun and Gear Maintenance tasks?

Sounds like an impossible task, with too little information.
A great opportunity for him to tell you. After a lot of work that's not what he wants.
Been there.......done that..... as an inexperienced jeweler with customers.
Customers have to be involved in design!!

Without specific knowledge, this is a job for a multi-tool. He could be talking about a lot of things here. For instance, different driver bits may be needed for body screws, sights, or mounts. Different punch sizes may be needed to push out pins. Sometimes, a small pry tool is just what the doctor ordered. It would make sense in the context of a knife if he meant something like the cut-outs on the Hydra Buzzard shared by ferider ferider but he really needs to specify.

Ditto the above. This is such an unusual request, you need to know from the customer exactly what sort of tools/abilities they want from the knife.

David, what about a fixed blade with a hollow handle and screw on brass butt cap?

That way the blade is/can still be your trademark design, and the firearm maintenance kit can then be tailored for the specific firearm ( stored in the hollow waterproof handle ) for not only this customer, but any future customers too.

This might be something to consider. I always carry my trusty, slightly rusty, Leatherman Wave with me in my range bag along with a folder. I remember now maybe ten years ago using the pliers to remove a casing in a friend's gun who's extractor went bad while at the range. A knife would have worked as well. But these are generally, rare, emergency things.

I am picturing a small fixed blade like you made me but the butt of the handle has a flathead screwdriver and choke tube wrenches. maybe a pin punch nested in the center of the handle and a 1/4 inch driver hex hole somewhere.

Or make him a nice small fixed blade that shares a pouch with a leatherman.
