Knife suggestion for infantry soldier

stevekt, "a few decades" makes me feel old but then I remember I was a Lieutenant Colonel in 1996 and suddenly it isn't "old" that I feel but "experienced", "respected", and "highly paid". My service spans the M60A1, M60A2, M60A3, and the M1 series. My maintenance company at Fort Knox was tasked to haul the first prototype M1 from APG to Fort Hood for testing. Apparently my HET was the only one serviceable East of the Mississippi.

Your quip about "four lieutenants" also reminded me that sometimes they weren't always four American lieutenants -- all speaking the same language!

Knife Content -- during my Fort Knox days, I carried a Camillus PSK in the field.

I sugest the Leatherman Wave, you can carry it in a custom seth with a little light, you can open it with one hand, it has a sharp blade and a serrated, etc....

I know that this seath is too ugly, but it do its job.

Congratulations to the New 2nd LT !!!

I don't really know or understand what infantry guys really need or think they want, but if it's anything like what I carry these days in the field, the blade oughta be at least 7" long and plenty thick.... just like a SOG Seal 2000, it gets every job done every time.

When I was a brand new shiny Navy ensign I needed that kinda knife for my daily protection.... from the XO !!

Cheers,
