Hey all, I really like SOG's Seal knife designs but I'm looking for better edge retention than Aus 8 provides and that seems to be all they're made of, only thing similar I can find is the Spartan Enyo but it's a bit short. Can you suggest something similar

Benchmade Nimravus with 154CM.
Great ergos... I have a SEAL Pup now but I really like the BM

Or BM Rant... different blade shapes.

The TOPS Moccasin Ranger is not a whole awful lot like your SOG, but it will do the same job, and may work for you.

The SOG Seal Series (whew!) fits the general pattern of a "trailing point" knife. I don't know if image search is cheating, but I go with what works.

Nice finds! (good call on the trailing point blade) I do really like the blade shape but I'm not married to it mostly looking for a decent fixed blade for edc that I can go to war with if it arises, kind of liking the Gerber LMF 2 a little but they only make it in a combo blade and I'd prefer full plain blade , digging the distended/extended pommel for butt striking.

Ahhh.

Entrek Cobra

4" blade, 3/16 thick, 440C.

Just under $200.00, MSRP.

How about the ZT0180? It's solid, good steel, extended tang...and could probably be taken to war. [emoji51]. Vanadis 4 Extra steel, G10 slabbed handle. I think it came with a molded insert nylon sheath (Specops brand maybe? Too lazy to dig it out).

I don't have any SOG's or Gerber's to compare it to, but it's one of my favorite fixed blades.

Hogue ex-fo2 clip point blade made of a2.
Not stainless, but tough as nails and still slightly better edge holding then aus8. Great steel.
Lionsteel m5 is in sleipner is another solid option, also check out the flat ground DUSTAR Magen in d2.
Also I noticed "utility tools knives" using a2, made in USA, but don't know anything about the company.

Benchmade Protagonist or TOPS BOB in 154cm if stainless is a must.

Just a few more names to throw in the hat.
