Knife suggestions?

Kinda new (ish) to knife game. Been a long time lover but never dug in this deep, now hooked. I've got a small handful of CRKT, couple of your standard Spydies, Rat1, ZT 0562CF, and a Skaha II CF. Got a little bit of money burning a hole and looking to go a little bigger now.. Who's got a suggestion on next progression? Maybe up to $500 if strikes my fancy

If I had 500 bucks burning a hole in my pockets, I'd definitely get some variety of the XM-18

You could try Opinel, their folders are very good at slicing and cheap enough that you could also purchase an expensive knife.

Your budget allows for almost anything, but I would seriously suggest a budget Kershaw, the Atmos. I just recently got this myself, and it is an astoundingly good knife for the price (around $30). I think you will be really surprised by the quality and action of this knife. The design is by Dmitry Sinkevich, who has designed several knives for ZT, and the design elements show in the Atmos. I have other more expensive knives, but I find myself carrying this more and more. Yes, the steel is "only" 8cr13mov, and that is the only downside. But it gets and stays super sharp with some light stropping, and real life usage shows it performs very well.

Have you tried a spring assisted ZT? 0301, 0350 and my latest, the 0566 in S35VN, the new 0566’s are ELMAX now...

Ok, you have convinced me...lol...don’t need another knife but might actually get one of these due to your enthusiasm and positive comments.

Might as well get the Spyderco Drunken if you’re getting the Kershaw Atmos but have 500$.

If you want to check out a Hinderer check out the Firetac. I cannot recommend this knife enough for someone who likes the shape and feel of CRKs. The knife is slim and comfortable to carry but still very strong.

I don’t know if you have seen in person other Hinderer brand Hinderers (not ZTs) but the Firetac is made with thinner titanium scales than the other Hinderers such as the XM18 or Eklipse. At the same time it has that Hinderer tank like feel.

P Polkie check out a Chris Reeve Sebenza or Inkosi small or large, whichever size suits you better or a Hinderer of some sort if you got 500$.

That's true, but there's a certain joy in finding and getting a really good bargain knife. He could get the Atmos and get the Drunken too!

Nope...not really looking to spend $500 USD at the moment...lol... Recently picked up a couple Mnandis...o_O
If I was...would probably be yet another CRK or Busse.

Absolutely! Relatively cheap & well made knives have their own appeal...recently got a Kabar Dozier small folder...great little knife for the $!

If you are looking for a $500ish dollar knife there are tons of good options. If I was going to spend in the $500 range right now I would get any of: a Large Inkosi or Umnumzaan by CRK, a Reate Crossroads (Lambert design) or a Laconico EZE.

I have a lot of knives, so it is easy to pin down what production knife I would buy next, and those are them.

The Ka-Bar Mini Dozier is awesome. I have one, as well as the bigger one, and they are great knives. If you get the Atmos, I think you will be pleased. It has a different appeal than the Doziers. Feels refined, but it's inexpensive. Runs on bearings, so it's very different. But it seems you have a good eye for great budget knives!

Cold Steel Ad-10 or 15
Cold Steel 4Max
Massdrop Keen
Viper EZ-Open
Lionsteel Roundhead
Manly Peak2

Just a couple off the top of my head that I have been eyeballing lately :)

500 can get you something like this.
Juuuuust sayin. :)Screenshot_20181125-215509_Gallery.jpg

CPM 3V 0.220 stock
10.5 inch blade
5.25 inch handle
Full convex grind.
This one has terotuf handles, but G10/micarta is available.
I can also use RCF. Rubberized Carbon fiber not only looks great, it's easily the most comfortable handle material out there in my opinion. Only drawback is it adds an additional charge to the blade.

There are more reviews on this blade here:

If you are looking for something different I can always build a full custom once my books reopen.
Best of luck!
