Long time lurker here. Seeing this thread prompted me to finally sign up for an account as I'm in the middle of an iffy transaction with Knifesupply.com right now. It's currently been 3 phone calls, 4 e-mails, and 11 days since I ordered from them and I have just received a USPS shipment notification that something is on its way to me as of today.
I tried to verify in stock of a discontinued knife listed for sale on their site via both phone and e-mail with no response. Having seen that with a few other businesses in the past though, I went ahead and placed my order anyways as the website listed the knife as available (this was my first mistake). The one response I have received from knifesupply customer service told me that they had to re-order the knife but it had just arrived, was being shipped that day, and sorry for the delay. This was on Friday 10/26. The knife did not in fact ship that day.
I'm not sure what they "re-ordered" as it is a discontinued Spyderco (Street Beat micarta) not available anymore from the manufacturer. I'm assuming either they shipped me the correct knife and the re-order comment is a cover for their internal errors, or (this is what I'm expecting at this point) they re-ordered the plastic handled version ($72 cheaper and also listed as available on their site) and are shipping it to me passing it off as my actual order. In which case I'll immediately file with my credit card company under the fraud protection.
USPS should have whatever is being shipped here by Thurs and I'll update then. Hopefully I'm just being overly sensitive. However, given that there was already an existing thread and other on the verge of placing orders, it seemed that the community here should be aware as soon as possible before putting their own money/time/efforts/frustrations at risk.
In my most recent e-mail to knife supply (just before typing this), I let them know my concerns, mentioned this thread and provided them a link to it.
