I am the only knife nut in my family, both immediate and extended. None of them understand much, but my machinist uncle knows the most. Keep in mind that while I'm young, my parents are not and they are the oldest of their living siblings. So I'm just sitting at the table at my uncle's house touching up a few knives for them when my uncle sets this roll of worn and heavy fabric on the table. I unroll it, and there are 3 or 4 Chubby Hueske knives, all unused sitting beside their respective sheaths. At this point I'm confused, so I ask my uncle why he has them, and he tells me that he made most if the metal parts for his knives, and even helped design a few. All the talking I do about knives, and no one ever told me my own uncle used to be a part of the process. And from what I've seen, chubby's knives have influenced many modern customs. I'm impressed with my uncle. He says they were friends until he died. So the question I pose to you today: who in your family has shaped the production of knives and how? Have you? I just want to hear some cool stories. I know y'all have them.
