I was just wondering if there was any chance at all that you might think of putting together a second compliation of articles. I bought the first one, loved it and have read it many times. I noticed that some of the theories have since been altered, or exploded, and thought that it would be great to have all the new stuff in a new volume.

Just a thought anyway.

Chris

Chris, it will probably take Ed till early next week to get back to you. If I am not mistaken he is attending the Oregon knife show.

He is right now putting together a book on 52100 and his experiences in working with it to strive to make the ultimate high performance blade. This book should be out by the end of the year. I sure hope so anyway.

Lifter, I bet that would be a very good book, I'll buy a copy ;)

I really enjoyed Knife Talk. I bet Ed doesn't fool that IRS man anymore though (loved that story)

Roger

Stories about Ed? LOL! That could be GOOD, I'd buy one for sure!

I loved the IRS story too. How long ago do you reckon that was? In the days when he had trouble getting rid of his knives, hehe :D. I have passed that story on to a lot of craftsmen that I know, they all like it.

C_Claycomb: thanks for the thoughts! Sorry for the delay, I just got back from a knife show in Eugene Oregon. Kruase and I are in the contract phaze now, the book should be out sometime in January next year. Angie and I about have the book ready to go. It is going to be all the articles between the first book and this one plus some thoughts that go along with the articles.

Welcome back Ed. Hope the trip and show went well.
All I could do to keep my mouth shut on the new project and wait for you to tell folks :D.

Gus, that was most restrained of you :D!

Ed, I hope the show went well, also hope that you have a few knives left over for the BLADE show ;)! Do thank Angie for the email, I am looking forward to the new book already. The first one was really good, it has influenced my thinking on design, acted as a prod to try home heat-treating and has helped out in a lot of explainations/conversations with non-knife knuts.

Many thanks,

Chris Claycomb

Welcome home Ed!
I had to put a Vise-Grip on my tongue when I saw this thread also, not wanting to steal Ed's thunder.
I'm sure that now that he's back he won't mind me post the cover pic for the new book. ;)

Phil: When I get wore out at shows, I will be able to sit back, think of your creation and go again.
that is what knives are all about, dreams of steel, function, skinning sabertooth tigers, wooly manoths and ------.

Ed Where's the name tags on the girls?
they must be the Hostess with the mostist.
Dang I need to hit that show at the right time.. :D :D
  Phill, Good one
If my wife gets an eye on that, she'll
never let me out again.:p

Ed, I can hardly wait to get my copy of that book. It looks like there could be some juicy stories to read. :)

Actually, the book on 52100 is the one I am really looking forward to. I have all the Knife Talk articles that have been written since the last book came out, but I am sure that I will get the new Knife talk as well. It will be a quicker reference than trying to remember which magazine a certain article is in.

Greymaker: They had VIP Passes, very special VIP Passes. No body even noticed or asked where they were when they came to the show. You just got to be around where Phil is and you will get to notice things that most don't see.

Maybe this year they will come to the pit, all we got to do is get Phil there also.

Now Now..., those "Assistants" PhilL posted were at the Oregon Show.., and although it's not blatantly obvious.., they were simply visual aides to demonstrate some new ideas Ed has on "Profiling"..., and "Edge-Geometry" .., at least that's what I heard????

"Hunters seek what they [WANT].., Seekers hunt what they [NEED]"

That's it, Edge-Geometry :D some nice Geometry too.
I'll need to follow Phill around, he seems to be
into intresting things.
;)

Phil:
Nice work!!! For folks that do not know, that is me on the right w/a wig on....and my little sister on the left!!!! All in the family....isn't Ed a lucky man??? and I love his knives too!!!
angie

Angie, I'd say you and Ed are both lucky, and we're all lucky here to have you both a part of our community.

As much as I joke around(too much) let me say this in all seriousness:
Angie, you and Ed are lucky to have found each other, but the knife community as a whole is much luckier to have you both as part of the family.

Dave
