Recommendation? Knife testing

I appreciate everyone's input. I plan on making smaller (under 8in OAL) EDC knives. That's why I was worried about the type of destruction they would be able to take
Edge retention and toughness are the two most sought after attributes in a working knife. Edge retention is the one that will get the most amount of feedback on how well it held up and how easy or difficult it was to bring back the edge to hair popping sharp. In a short blade EDC or Field use the blade geometry is something you should work on by trying different grinds. Some work well with a full flat for slicing and others convex for wood splitting and buschcrafting.

That's excellent advice busto thank you. I plan on getting a bigger wheel and doing a shallow hallow grind so it's not as "fragile" as a regular hallow. Kind of like a mix between hallow and flat does that make sense?

Yes I follow the concept . Many knives are ground with that technique. When I started I studied designs of knives I had and picked the profiles that would work best and tested the designs by cutting cardboard and rope until I was happy with a profile.
